Bio

Originally trained as a classical musician, Johan shifted gears and moved to Russia to start a new chapter in his life as a tour guide, fueled by his passion for Russian composers. After that, he embarked on a three-decade-long career in the travel industry. He began in various roles within travel marketing and sales before transitioning into managerial positions. Remarkably, Johan ascended to the CEO position of one of Sweden's top three travel companies when he was just 29 years old.

Before joining the ranks at easyJet, Johan served as both the Group Deputy CEO and the CEO of Mainstream Tourism at TUI AG. Prior to that role, he was the Managing Director for the Northern Region at TUI Travel plc between 2007 and 2011. From 2003 to 2007, Johan held the titles of Managing Director and CEO of TUI Nordic. Under his leadership, the company underwent a significant transformation. He also spearheaded the company's response to the devastating tsunami in Indonesia, an effort that later became the subject of a Harvard Business School case study on leadership. Before that, from 1999 to 2003, Johan managed MyTravel's businesses in Canada and Sweden, and before those roles, he was the Managing Director of Always Tour Operations starting in 1996.
