About this episode
Bio
Purnima Sen is a seasoned professional in Operations and People Management, boasting over two decades of expertise in digital media and IT consultancy. She joined the directorial team at Sparta Global in 2017 and has been instrumental in steering the company's operations. Her role involves hiring, training, and deploying the forthcoming cadre of diverse talent in sought-after technology fields. In keeping with Sparta Global's mission to address the digital skills deficit as a socially impactful business, Purnima prioritises purpose over profit. She is fervently committed to making digital access more equitable for underrepresented groups. Under her stewardship, Sparta Global successfully navigated two rounds of investment and secured its unique standing as the only B Corp in the hire, train, deploy sector.
An entrepreneur from a young age, Purnima began her business journey in India, selling ice cubes to local restaurants and pubs. Already possessing a BA and MA in Economics, she earned a scholarship for an MBA in London, selling her Indian business to finance her move to the UK. During her MBA studies, she opted to focus on finance and Organisational Behaviour and has been committed to ongoing education. In 2020, she became a Wharton alumnus after completing an Executive Programme in HR Data Analytics. Most recently, in 2023, she added Cambridge Judge Business School to her alumni credentials following an Executive Programme in DEI strategies for Business Impact.
A proud Asian woman in a leadership role and a mother to three children, Purnima has melded her enthusiasm for technology and people by spearheading Sparta Global's ED&I and ESG initiatives. Her efforts in this domain have twice seen her shortlisted for the IOD Director of the Year for Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion. Serving as a Governor on the Board of Trustees for her local school, she remains closely engaged with the educational sector, influencing strategy and grassroots change.
